Janelle Monae Visited ‘Sesame Street’ and Was Amazing

Well, this is adorable: Janelle Monáe visited Sesame Street recently to teach Elmo, Big Bird, Bert, and co. about the importance of perseverance. The SPIN profile subject encouraged the Sesame crew not to give up when things aren’t their way by singing a song called “The Power of Yet,” written by Sesame Street music director Bill Sherman. (“The Electric Lady,” while thrilling, might have gone over kids’ heads.) “I am so excited to be living one of my dreams — to be here on “Sesame Street,” Monáe told Billboard earlier this year. “I’m here because I am teaching everybody on Sesame Street the importance and the power of ‘yet.’ Never, ever, ever give up because there’s so much power in ‘yet.'” Well said. Watch Monáe’s clip above, then revisit Cookie Monster’s Icona Pop parody because it’s amazing.
