London’s Tahliah Barnett released LP1, her warped and wiry first full-length as FKA twigs last month, and it’s cemented her as one of the most exciting singer/producers coming out of the U.K. right now. Today, she stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge in celebration of that record’s release, and in addition to a performance of “Two Weeks,” she tackled Sam Smith’s presently inescapable single “Stay With Me.” But rather than attempt to match the original’s classically trained boisterousness, she offers a smoky and contained version—as darkly bubbly as anything that she’s release over the past couple of years. It’s not one of her vogue-worthy bangers, but it’s compelling in its own right. Watch it above and the performance of “Two Weeks” below.
