It seemed for a while there that the forthcoming Lifetime biopic about the life and career of groundbreaking R&B singer Aaliyah might not ever even happen. But despite all of the production drama, over the weekend the network shared the first trailer for the film, which features former Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp in character as the titular Princess of R&B. There’s no hint yet of her vocal talents, but Shipp has the look pretty much nailed down, and the brief choreography that we get over the course of the trailer’s 15 seconds are also pretty uncanny. Though Shipp only joined the production in July, they’ve at least been able to put together a brief bit of competent tribute. You’ll be able to see the whole thing on November 15, but for now you can catch the trailer above.
