Wu-Tang Clan Unleash New Single ‘Ron O’Neal’ on ‘The Daily Show’

Wu-Tang Clan 'Ron O'Neal' 'Daily Show' 'Triumph' 'A Better Tomorrow'

After missing the opportunity to release their new album to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Enter the Wu-Tang, working up a one-off album to sell for millions, trying to hire an unpaid intern, and RZA and Raekwon fighting through the press about money, all nine members of Wu-Tang Clan (yes, we’re counting Cappadonna) finally got their act together and united for an appearance on The Daily Show to perform their previously unheard single “Ron O’Neal.”

It’s the first single off of the long-in-the-works A Better Tomorrow, and features some soulful horns, a modern R&B sample, and verses from Meth, Ghostface, RZA, and more. (In case it doesn’t ring a bell, the title is a reference to actor Ron O’Neal who played coke dealer Youngblood Priest in Super Fly.) Before the performance, the entire Clan sat down with Jon Stewart to talk about the reunion, with all the members explaining why it took so long to get back together — to varying degrees, they basically said it had to be a perfect situation. They also closed out the episode with “Triumph,” replacing the show’s usual “Moment of Zen” segment. According to Stewart, “Ron O’Neal” was supposed to be available on iTunes at midnight but we certainly can’t find it yet. Classic Wu.
