St. Vincent to Pinch-Hit for Fred Armisen as ‘Late Night’ Bandleader
Annie Clark will cover for the 'Portlandia' creator on Seth Meyers' talk show
Considering he’s got a new punk supergroup and a fifth season of Portlandia in the works, Fred Armisen might be spread a little thin these days. Fear not, however, because St. Vincent is taking over his leadership role on the bandstand at Late Night with Seth Meyers. Annie Clarke will save the day (nights?) on August 11 and 12, leading the post-punky 8G band led by Armisen and featuring members of Les Savy Fav and Girls Against Boys.
The SPIN cover star and ever-stylish St. Vincent has a solid track-record when it comes to delivering proper Late Night sets, but if you need some proof by which to pregame, watch her channel robotic swagger on Letterman and postively bewitch the SNL crowd. And don’t forget that time she tangled with the very man she’ll displace on these dates — Armisen’s Portlandia recording studio snob gave her hell in season four.
