At the tail end of last week, it was discovered a man named Jason Michael Hurley had been arrested for methamphetamine possession and shoplifting and had somehow tricked police officers into thinking that he was Scott Weiland. It turns out that the similarity is pretty uncanny, and as Alternative Nation points out (via CoS), it seems he may have even been planning a tribute band called Stone Tempered Pilots.
According to posts from his Facebook page Hurley was planning on participating some sort of tribute show at Los Angeles’ Roxy Theatre, though the band may not have actually existed yet as TMZ points out. Another sad post details some of Hurley’s famous bands and his supposed friendship with a number of stars. He claims to spend time at Ozzy Osbourne‘s house and be a “very close buddy” of Goo Goo Dolls’ Johnny Rzeznik, but he also happened to spell both of their names wrong in the post. You can read that full thing below and catch a picture of Hurley performing live, potentially with his terribly named STP cover band.
