Fear Not, America, the Lollapalooza Arm-Biter Is Locked Up

Lollapalooza Biter Arrested Sergio Vicenteno

Chicago residents and Arctic Monkeys fans can rest easy tonight now that the man who bit another Lollapalooza attendee has been arrested. Sergio Vicenteno, 33, was booked on Wednesday, August 20, on two counts of aggravated battery at a public venue, according to RedEye. He is being held on $60,000 bail.

While the news of his arrest is great, it’s still unclear what provoked Vicenteno to bite 29-year-old Ben Lenet after allegedly attacking one of his friends on August 1, the first night of the three-day festival in Chicago’s Grant Park. Lenet took to Reddit to share his story and a nasty picture of his “gnawed-on arm,” writing “The attacker then turns his head and clamps his teeth into my arm for a good 5 seconds. He’s not nipping at me. He’s trying to bite through my arm.”

Lenet and his friends repeatedly punched and kicked Vicenteno during the brief altercation, though the assailant didn’t seem to notice. “The attacker has now taken 10-15 blows to the head and been punted in the face,” Lenet wrote. “He gets up and walks away. Not stumbling. Not woozy. He just fucking walked away in a straight line. CPD would later tell me they only see assailants like that who are on PCP or bath salts.”

Lenet went to the hospital and was released that night, though he’s undergoing further treatment to prevent HIV and hepatitis. At the time, he said it would take 30 days before a blood test could definitively prove he wasn’t infected, so he should know sometime next weekend.
