Jeff Tweedy and Son Get Help From Lucius for ‘High as Hello’ on ‘Fallon’

Jeff Tweedy Fallon Tonight Show 'High as Hello' 'Summer Noon' Lucius

As we remarked yesterday with the release of “Fake Fur Coat,” Jeff Tweedy and son Spencer — a.k.a. the duo cleverly known as Tweedy — have been rather generous when it comes to revealing the songs off of their upcoming debut album, Sukierae. With  “I’ll Sing It,”  “Summer Noon,” and “Wait for Love” already out there for public consumption, the family band unveiled yet another track last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The cool-as-a-cucumber “High as Hello” came with the added bonus of backing vocals by Lucius’ co-frontwomen Holly Laessig and Jess Wofle, who turned in one of our favorite sets at this year’s Governors Ball.

The Tweedy fellas then stuck around for a bubbling take on “Summer Noon,” adding a little more pep than what’s heard on the studio version. Overall, we’ll give credit to the 18-year-old Spencer for bringing a veteran presence to his first late-night performance. That, with all the previously released cuts, makes us even more excited for Sukierae, which is due out September 16 via Wilco’s dBpm label.
