Witness Kimbra’s Strange, Disco-Kissed ‘Miracle’ of a Track

Stream Kimbra 'Miracle' the Golden Echo

Kimbra is aiming to be much more than — wait for it — somebody that you used to know. The Grammy-winning pop weirdo has shared another taste from her upcoming album, The Golden Echo, due out August 19 on Warner Bros. Heard below, “Miracle” nods to the lighthearted sound of the disco days of yore, but is driven by a flawlessly fluctuating (possibly Thundercat-divined) bass-line. The vocals don’t disappoint either.

The album, produced by the New Zealander herself along with Rich Costey (Muse, Interpol), features contributions from a diverse range of talent, including drummer John “JR” Robinson (Michael Jackson, Daft Punk), aforementioned Flying Lotus affiliate Thundercat, Daniel Johns of Silverchair, R&B singer Bilal, Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman, and famed string arranger Van Dyke Parks, among possible others.

The songstress will kick off a tour on October 20 with support from Empress Of (who have a really cool website). Check out Kimbra’s wild video for “90s Music” on your way out.
