Conor Oberst Drops Libel Lawsuit Against Rape Accuser
The Nebraska-born songwriter's lawyers filed a notice of voluntary dismissal on Friday
Last week, the woman who said that Conor Oberst raped her when she was 16 years old admitted that totally fabricated her accusations, and now according to documents that Buzzfeed has acquired, it appears that the Nebraska-born singer-songwriter dropped his libel suit against her on Friday.
When Oberst released a statement last Wednesday accepting Joanie Faircloth’s apology and recantation, it was unclear whether or not the SPIN cover star would still pursue that lawsuit against her, but on Friday his lawyers filed to dismiss the case. The court documents are available in full over at Buzzfeed.
