Glastonbury Man in ‘Life-Threatening Condition’ After Taking Ketamine

Glastonbury Festival Death Ketamine

Following two deaths at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas last weekend, and the news that Avicii’s Wednesday Boston concert left 36 fans hospitalized, we’ve got an unsettling announcement from across the pond. A 26-year-old is Glastonbury reveler is reportedly fighting for his life after experiencing a negative reaction to the drug ketamine at the U.K. festival. According to The Guardian, he was rushed to Bristol Royal Infirmary on Wednesday night after taking the drug at the event.

A police spokesperson told the newspaper the man remains hospitalized in a “life-threatening condition.” His family has been informed. Authorities don’t believe that the illegal substance had been contaminated; instead they suspect it was a personal reaction. “This is another tragic reminder of the risks of experimenting with drugs,” said the representative.

Meanwhile, a 67-year-old woman died from natural causes at the festival last night. She may have had an underlying medical condition. Her death is not being treated as suspicious. While the campgrounds are active, Glastonbury opens fully on Friday and will include performances by Jack White, Arcade Fire, Black Keys, Warpaint, Lana Del Rey, Dolly Parton, Disclosure, Blondie, Skrillex, Pixies, Robert Plant, and others — even Metallica, despite some fans’ best efforts
