Watch Ezra Koenig, David Byrne, Boy George, More Sing a Song From ‘Grease’

Ezra Koenig spent his Friday night leading SPIN’s 2013 Band of the Year through a rollicking set at Bonnaroo, but from the looks of things he didn’t have much time to indulge himself in the fest’s many pleasures. Just a day later, as Stereogum points out, he turned up in Toronto at a musical revue singing Grease‘s “Summer Nights” with David Byrne, Boy George, Rufus Wainwright, Josh Groban, and the Barenaked Ladies’ Steven Page, among others.

The Wainwright-curated show If I Loved You: Gentlemen Prefer Broadway — An Evening of Love Duets premiered Saturday at Toronto’s Luminato Festival and claims to recontextualize many “beloved gems in the Great American Songbook” as love songs “exclusively by men and to men” for the purpose of “fortifying the songs; universality as expressions of love.”

With that in mind, take a look at the above video which features the finale of the show, wherein the full cast takes on the Grease classic. It’s strange enough to see that group of singers on stage together, let alone getting along and apparently having a good time. You can also catch some assorted highlights of the night’s performances below. It’s as weird (and as good) as it sounds.
