Watch Janelle Monae Light Up ‘Electric Lady’ on ‘Maya Rudolph’

Here’s hoping some of you caught The Maya Rudolph Show last night on NBC, because we’d be more than happy to write about more performances like this one. The Saturday Night Live alum, Bridesmaids actress, and Prince-covering daughter of Minnie “Loving You” Ripperton hosted a variety-show special after The Voice, with Janelle Monáe as a musical guest and Raphael Saadiq as band leader. Watch Atlanta future-soul Q.U.E.E.N. Monáe, retro-R&B titan Saadiq, and a full band give a jubilant, exhilarating take on “Electric Lady,” the near-title track from the OutKast-affiliated singer’s 2013 sophomore album, The Electric Lady. Rudolph also got help on her show from fellow funny people Sean Hayes, Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg, Chris Parnell, and Craig Robinson. Below, see Rudolph and Frozen star Kristen Bell spoof a potential sequel to the Disney blockbuster — if there any small children nearby, prepare to feel like a YouTube-wielding Pied Piper (also get ready to hear them cry out the name “Elsa!”).
