As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Gets Six Years for Marital Murder Plot

As I Lay Dying Tim Lambesis Wife Murder Plot Sentence

Almost exactly one year after he attempted to hire an undercover cop to assassinate his estranged wife, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis begins a six-year stretch behind bars. He was given that sentence, without probation, Friday, May 16, in a San Diego courtroom. As Blabbermouth reports, his former bandmates Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso, and Josh Gilbert were there. As previously noted, Lambesis, 33, in February pleaded guilty to solicitation of murder.

But before that, he’d argued that steroids warped his mind, inspiring him to order the death of Meggan Lambesis. As previously reported, the vocalist told a man at his gym his spouse wouldn’t let him divorce her, and had been keeping him from their three adopted children. He revealed that he wanted to contract a killer, and the man reported the information to authorities. They, in turn, set up a sting during which he said, “Just to clarify… I do want her dead.”

According to Radio.com, the would-be victim’s father, Mike Murphy, said the family still fears Meggan’s murder, adding, “We know that prison is a great alibi for someone who wants to complete the deed … He was only worried about the money. Tim is only sorry he got caught.” Lambesis’ mother-in-law characterized him as abusive, and said her daughter was “a mere inconvenience to this narcissistic child.” Meggan testified as well, saying she felt “fragile” in his presence.

In August, she filed a civil lawsuit for $2 million which remains pending.
