Wild Beasts Channel Talking Heads for ‘A Simple Beautiful Truth’ Video

Wild Beasts 'A Simple Beautiful Truth' Video Present Tense

How’s this for a music video concept? Four dudes head to a Welsh mountain and wander around, executing some weird choreographed dance, and once the sun goes down, their clothes light up and they do the same dance in a circle around an electric umbrella. That’s pretty much what happens in Wild Beasts’ video for “A Simple Beautiful Truth,” an airy synth cut from their fourth album, Present Tense. If it all sounds kind of bizarre, well, that’s exactly the point.

“We were inspired enough by the absurdist approach taken by Talking Heads to don electric suits and dance in the ether on the top of a Beacons mountain,” the band said in a statement. “We wanted to capture the weightlessness of a song like ‘A Simple Beautiful Truth,’ to attempt something so ridiculous as to be sublime. The experience was strangely liberating and we asked ourselves why we hadn’t done this before.”

Between that and their acoustic rendition of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” we can certainly say that Wild Beasts have a sense of humor. Enjoy the video above and pick up Present Tense via Domino Records.
