Best New Artist alums the Orwells are no stranger to the spotlight. They rang in this year with a highly memorable Letterman performance that ended with frontman Mario Cuomo testing the integrity of one of the chairs next to the host. Of course, then came Future Islands, but these Chicago garage-punks deserve their plaudits for live prowess.
