Shout Out Louds Leader Retrofits Johnossi’s ‘Gone Forever’ for the DFA Crowd

Just-released remix is out via Universal Sweden/Caroline, but would feel at home with James Murphy's label

Johnossi, the Swedish duo of singer-guitarist John Engelbert and drummer Oskar “Ossi” Bonde, are planning to drop their fourth album in the U.S. on April 29 via Universal Sweden/Caroline. In advance of the 10-track set, which is dubbed Transitions, Johnossi have shared “Gone Forever,” a windswept, arena-ready single that hits iTunes today, April 15. The track’s digital release comes backed with a special B-side: a remix of “Gone Forever” done by Adam Olenius, frontman for fellow Stockholm outfit the Shout Out Louds. Subtitled the “Adam Boy Remix,” Olenius’ version narrows the original song’s scope and hollows out its production, favoring cowbell clunks and a soft-edged, electronic groove over galloping grand gestures. Listen to the redux below.
