Hear Melted Toys’ Alluring Synth-Pop Gem ‘Blush’

melted toys, blush, underwater peoples

This summer, Melted Toys will release its self-titled debut album, the follow-up to 2011’s watery Washed & Dried EP. In advance of the upcoming set, the San Francisco quartet — consisting of Steven Harkins (vocals, keys, guitar), Daniel Rosado (guitar), Ole Haarstad (drums), and Brian Wakefield (bass) — has shared the LP’s lead single, “Blush.” The just-released track begins with the kinds of whistles and hollers often heard at a sporting event and closes out with faint church bells; in between are sharp synth whirrs, crisp drumming, and Harkins’ impish but seductive vocals. Listen to “Blush” below, and look out for Melted Toys, due July 15 via Underwater Peoples.
