Drake on Jay Z: He’s ‘Somewhere Eating a Fondue Plate’

Drake, Jay Z, beef, fondue plate

If Drake’s recent hiring as ESPYs host was any indication, the rapper loves sports; so much so that he was named a Global Ambassador for his home team, the Toronto Raptors. And he will defend their image to the death, even if it means evoking class tensions to criticize rival Jay Z’s wealth (now the third largest in the hip-hop world). During a game against the Brooklyn Nets — a team Jay once owned a percentage of — Drake told TSN that Hov is likely “somewhere eating a fondue plate” (classic One Percent line) while he, Drizzy, was out repping the Raptors, the true “people’s team.”

The Nothing Was the Same MC recently poked fun at Jigga’s insistence on constantly flaunting his bourgeois gallery credentials in song, telling Rolling Stone, “It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references!” He then later admitted he would love to collect artwork like Jay Z, but followed that with a subtle dig at the rap mogul in “Draft Day” — “Just hits, no misses, that’s for the married folk.”

FYI: Drake is worth $40 million, which could buy the hoi polloi truck loads of fondue.
