Watch Arcade Fire Cover Kansas in Kansas City

Arcade Fire Kansas Dust In The Wind Cover Video

Arcade Fire has made it a point during their Reflektor tour to pay tribute to a number of towns they pass through with a series of location-specific cover songs. To date, they’ve done Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly” in Philadelphia, Prince’s “Controversy” in Minneapolis, and Stevie Wonder’s “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)” in Auburn Hills, Michigan, not to mention “Heart of Glass” with Debbie Harry at Coachella.

Last night in Kansas City’s Starlight Theatre, as Stereogum points out, the band performed a version of “Dust In The Wind” during their encore. After Will Butler concluded his rendition of the Kansas classic, big brother Win took the occasion for some geographical humor.

See, the Starlight Theater is in Kansas City, Missouri and the famed prog quintet is actually from Kansas. This fact was not lost on Win, who cut off the song by noting,”that’s a Kansas song and we’re in fuckin’ Missouri. That’s gonna kill when we play Lawrence, though.”
