Antemasque Return With Spry ‘People Forget,’ Uniting Ex-Mars Volta Members and Flea

Antemasque, Mars Volta, Flea

People tend to forget, so Antemasque are here to remind you. In case it already slipped your mind, that’s the name of a new project bringing together three-fourths of the defunct Mars Volta — core members Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, plus drummer Dave Elitch — with potential Socks, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll typist Flea. Fresh off sharing the bristling “4AM,” they’ve already offered up another track, “People Forget,” which moves limberly between frantic, lyrically dense verses and billowing, lighters-ready rock-anthem choruses. Centering it all is that unmistakable yowl: “Like a diamond in the rough”? Remember that. (Update: Antemasque’s songs appear to have been removed from Bandcamp, but you can download the tracks from iTunes, including another one, “Hangin’ in the Lurch.”)
