Hear Slint and Grails Members Unite as Watter

Watter 'Rustic Fog' Stream Slint Grails Britt Walford

Only days ago, we learned of Inventions, the new post-rock superduo formed by Eluvium with Explosions in the Sky’s Mark T. Smith. Now, the same label backing that project, Temporary Residence Limited, is announcing Watter, which combines the talents of Slint drummer Britt Walford, Grails guitarist Zak Riles, and producer Tyler Trotter. That trio will release the This World EP on May 27 and the first taste of it can be sampled below.

The seven-minute “Rustic Fog” is a brooding slab of burnt guitar, country lope, billowing atmosphere, and strange vibes. though Slint broke up in 1992, the sadcore greats have reunited a few times over the years, and are currently looking forward to a deluxe box set reissue of their classic 1991 album Spiderland, our April 15. Walford has also done time in the Breeders, Evergreen, and the For Carnation. Hear the new stuff here:
