As SPIN reported last month, St. Vincent has a guest spot on the new season of Portlandia in which she offers up some advice to Carrie Brownstein’s tax attorney boyfriend. And, as per usual with the IFC comedy, the end result is even more bizarre than it sounds. Fresh off her Essential self-titled album, the slyly hilarious Annie Clark appears in a sketch in this week’s episode (acting alongside former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan) to help Brownstein and Fred Armisen stage an intervention to keep the lawyer from pursuing a career in music. Clark does her part by reminding him that Lauryn Hill needed a good tax attorney to help her out — not an aspiring musician. It’s her second stint on the show following a 2012 appearance modeling police uniforms. Check out the clip above.
