Vaadat Charigim Turn a Mall Shoegaze in ‘Ein Nehama Ladoachim’ Video

Vaadat Charigim video tour

What better way for an international band to announce its first U.S. tour than with a trip to the shopping mall? Tel Aviv shoegazers Vaadat Charigim fool around in Israel’s Dizengoff Center in the David Michael Shachar-directed video for “Ein Nehama Ladoachim” (via Under the Radar), from last year’s Burger Records-cassettified The World Is Well Lost. This is surging, Hebrew-language nu-gaze, with a touch of menace to its surface-level sweetness — among revivalists, you might slot it somewhere between Pains of Being Pure at Heart and A Place to Bury Strangers — and the clip has a light, playful touch: Hello, Hello Kitty.

The video’s occasion is the unveiling of Vaadat Charigim’s U.S. tour dates, which run from South By Southwest on March 13 to Brooklyn, New York, on March 22. Since they’ll have traveled a long way, maybe come prepared to buy stuff?
