Until the Ribbon Breaks Mashes Up Hollywood Flicks for Video Mixtape

until the ribbon breaks, video mixtape

Until the Ribbon Breaks, a.k.a. electronic balladeer Peter Lawrie Winfield, has a flair for the cinematic. Many of the one-man band’s music videos lift footage from films: “Pressure” recut David Lynch’s Lost Highway, “Perspective” borrowed snippets of the 2002 Spike Lee joint 25th Hour, and “Romeo” squeezed Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet into four and a half minutes. Now, the U.K. native has spliced those mini-movies together — plus bits of a strip show — to form a “video mixtape.” Watch the 10-minute compilation above (look out for a cameo by Winfield himself), find Until the Ribbon Breaks’ tour dates below, and head over to iTunes to purchase the Best New Artist alum’s debut EP, A Taste of Silver.
