Watch Pearl Jam and Win Butler’s ‘Rockin’ Neil Young Cover

At this point, covering Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” with Pearl Jam should be considered a rite of passage. Over the last few months, the Lightning Bolt giants have saluted Young’s Freedom epic alongside St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein, as well as a fully reunited Sleater-Kinney. On February 2, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler served as guest of honor, joining Pearl Jam onstage in Perth to close out Australia’s traveling Big Day Out festival, which, sadly, will not return to Perth next year, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, after lackluster ticket sales. Send off Big Day Out’s Perth edition by watching the fan-shot footage of “Rockin’ in the Free World” above, keeping an eye out for PJ guitarist Jeff Ament, who abstained from Arcade Fire’s dress code by donning a Reflektor T-shirt. Oh, and don’t worry: No fans were injured.
