Last we heard from Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley’s DZ Deathrays, they delivered the quieter, but bursting, “Northern Lights.” Now the two-man Aussie posse are back with “Gina Works at Hearts,” an itchy punk missive that plays like the aural equivalent of an awful/incredible night out on the town. With brutal riffs cribbed from metal, vocals that’d fit right in on a Fugazi classic, and ecstatically warped melodies that recall Hot Hot Heat, these two plant a firm flag for their summer album, Black Rat. Oh, and in case you were fooled by the seemingly static video panel above, look again — there are rats crawling all over the cover art.
