Courtney Love Sued by Psychiatrist for Nearly $50K

Courtney Love Sued Psychiatrist 'Breach of Contract' new york lawsuit

One month after coming up victorious in a groundbreaking Twitter-spawned libel lawsuit, Courtney Love has been sued for the umpteenth time. On top of the other defamation case she’s facing, the sometime Hole frontwoman is being sued by a New York City psychiatrist.

Dr. Edwin Ratush, who also specializes in addiction treatment, claims Love owes him $48,250, as well as interest, costs, and attorney’s fees dating back to November 2010. No specific reason is given for the suit, other than that it’s related to “Breach of Contract, Account Stated, Money Due and Owing, and Unjust Enrichment.” It’s unclear what relationship Love has to the doctor, but she has to respond to the summons within the next few weeks or a court will force her to pay up.

The ongoing defamation case involves fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir, with whom Courtney has already settled one libel suit to the tune of $430,000. This time, Love is on the defensive for accusing Simorangkir of stealing from her, as well as being involved in prostitution. Those comments came about during an interview with Howard Stern, in which Love also claimed that she had learned her lesson from making public comments about others.

Considering the money she could end up owing, it’s probably a good time for Courtney to get that Hole reunion with Eric Erlandson and Melissa Auf Der Maur going soon.
