See Katy B Stitch Arctic Monkeys to Ben Pearce in Live Cover

Katy B Arctic Monkeys One for the Road Cover Video Live

Katy B will release her second album, Little Red, on February 10 via Rinse/Columbia, but rather than share new cuts from the 12-song platter, she’s been unveiling unexpected covers in various radio sessions. Earlier this month, the British dance/pop purveyor recorded her take on One Direction’s “Story of My Life” to awesomely alchemical results. Now, for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, she’s masterfully combined Ben Pearce’s “What I Might Do” with Arctic Monkey’s “One for the Road.”

Accompanied by two backing vocalists and a keyboard player, Katy swerves in and out of the two songs — one a soulful house track, and the other a skulking rock groove — with impressive ease. She’s not the first of her particular English ilk to take on the Monkeys’ latest. Sam Smith covered “Do I Wanna Know?” late last year. And from Little Red, we’ve heard “Crying for No One,” “5 AM,” and the Jessie Ware team-up, “Aaliyah.”
