Watch Disclosure’s Hilarious, Telekinetic ‘Grab Her’ Video

Disclosure, "Grab Her," video, New York City, Terminal 5

Disclosure start a three-night stand at New York City’s Terminal 5 on January 17, and they’re marking the occasion with the latest in what’s becoming a long line of eye-catching music videos from last year’s BRIT– and Grammy-nominated Settle (one of SPIN’s 50 Best Albums of 2013 and 20 Best Dance Albums of 2013). SPIN’s Philip Sherburne has described the U.K. duo as at the center of something “wasn’t so much dance-pop as ‘dance/pop,’ where the slash mark denotes the delirious balancing act between those two opposing forces,” and the clip for “Grab Her” works as an example. Listeners won’t need to know their 2-step from their bassline to enjoy either director Emile Sornin‘s visuals, which follow a wacky office worker with unusual telekinetic powers, or the J Dilla-sampling, near-instrumental track itself. Whether in dance, pop, or dance/pop such an anti-elitist approach is usually welcome, especially when it’s so effectively entertaining. Just hope you don’t end up next to the guy from the video at a Disclosure gig, particularly not while visiting the facilities.
