Sirvana — the fanboy-dreamed collaboration between Sir Paul McCartney and the surviving members of Nirvana — picked up its very first Grammy on January 26. The supergroup’s “Cut Me Some Slack” may have been robbed of an Oscar nomination, but the Sound City: Real to Reel soundtrack highlight was crowned Best Rock Song at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.
“We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Paul and for Ringo,” SPIN cover star Dave Grohl said while accepting the award. “This song was two hours in my studio. I called up Paul and said, ‘Hey, man, do you want to come jam with some friends of mine?’ He came over, we knocked this out in a couple of hours, and to me, that’s what rock’n’roll is all about.”
