Califone are about to embark on a North American tour in support of their seventh album, last year’s Stitches. But first, the rootsy Chicago outfit have shared a third music video promoting the LP. Following clips for album cuts “We Are a Payphone” and “Frosted Tips,” the latest visual scores Stitches opener “Movie Music Kills a Kiss.”

Directed by frontman Tim Rutili, the dusky video offers a single-shot, slow-motion look at a surreal moment: A woman (played by Angela Bettis, who previously directed the “We Are a Payphone” video) stealing and smashing Rutili’s guitar.

“Movie music can add or subtract emotional weight or fool you into thinking nothing is something and something is nothing,” Rutili says in an official statement. “Movie music really can kill a kiss.”
