Drake Ditches Grammy Nominations Concert Because #YOLO

drake, grammy nominations concert, nothing was the same

Drake has bailed on Friday night’s Grammy nominations concert in Los Angeles, citing last-minute “scheduling complications.” A representative for the “Worst Behavior” MC told TMZ, “Unfortunately, due to scheduling complications, Drake will no longer be performing… [he’s] currently in the middle of his nationwide ‘Would You Like a Tour?’ and sincerely apologizes to his fans that he can’t be there.”

The gossip site also notes that Drizzy does not have a performance scheduled for Friday, December 6, but the Air Jordan spokesman does have an engagement booked on Saturday, December 7. His Would You Like a Tour? extravaganza is set to take over the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri that night.

Even without the Nothing Was the Same spitter, the Recording Academy has a star-studded lineup locked down for The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night. Lorde, Robin Thicke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Miguel, T.I., Keith Urban, and members of Earth, Wind, and Fire are all scheduled to take the stage at the Nokia Theatre tonight. The telecast will also feature live music from Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, who are performing in Australia and Canada, respectively.

The hour-long event will air live on CBS tonight, beginning at 10 p.m. EST, with LL Cool J once again acting as host. After the nominees for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards have been revealed, the Recording Academy will partner with Atlantic Records to release the 2014 Grammy Nominees album, out January 21. A portion of the proceeds from the upcoming compilation — which packages together songs by some of this year’s nominated acts — will benefit the Grammy Foundation and the MusiCares Foundation.

Be sure to check SPIN later tonight for coverage of The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night.
