Preview Daft Punk’s ‘Instant Crush’ Video With Strokes Soldier Julian Casablancas

Daft Punk, Julian Casablancas, "Instant Crush," video preview, 'Random Access Memories'

Daft Punk’s “Instant Crush” video will probably take more than a moment to turn into a full-blown crush object. A snippet of the Julian Casablancas-assisted short has hit the Web after premiering on French TV. As the Strokes frontman’s vocoderized lilt floats across the Random Access Memories track’s retrofuturistic new wave, we see an enigmatic mix of visuals: Casablancas, lip-syncing with a serious look on his face while wearing his signature leather jacket, but also a J-Cas double in some sort of 19th-century European military getup — plus a female doll styled to a similar vintage. Could the robot-masked Parisian duo’s next muse be Ludwig Van Beethoven? Anyway, the preview above starts around the 25-second mark. Knowing Daft Punk, the full clip will probably expand lavishly on this brief tease.
