R. Kelly Says He’ll Make Ladyparts ‘Growl’ on Bruno Mars ‘Gorilla’ Remix

Bruno Mars has shared a new remix of his “Gorilla” single featuring guest appearances by Pharrell Williams and R. Kelly. Dubbed a “G-Mix,” the alternate version debuted on Twitter on November 8, after the Hawaiian pop-crooner took part in a quick Q&A with fans. Rather than beginning with a smoothly sung Mars verse (or an intro featuring Freida Pinto and Luis Guzmán a la the track’s music video), the “Gorilla G-Mix” starts with Pharrell spitting what could be a companion to his “Blurred Lines” video cameo: the super-producer rattles off a list of, uh, yoga poses he’d like to try with the ladies who (lyrically) surround him.

Bruno shows up soon afterwards, bringing along his “body full of liquor with a cocaine kicker,” and primed to launch into the song’s arena-sized chorus. Cue R. Kelly, who slithers in on the second verse, announcing himself as “an anaconda in your garden” that’s “exploring in your forest deep down.” Not afraid to mix metaphors, Kelly then declares himself the King of the Jungle, mimics the ooh-ooh-oohs of a gorilla, and promises to “make that [redacted] growl” — that’s a good thing, right?

Decide for yourself by streaming the “Gorilla G-Mix” above. And be sure to watch Bruno’s star-studded video for “Gorilla,” which is the fourth single to emerge from his impressive sophomore album, last year’s Unorthodox Jukebox.
