Carrie Brownstein recently played journalist to grill Pearl Jam about their lengthy career and their 10th album, Lightning Bolt. But on November 15, the Sleater-Kinney alumna played guitar alongside the alt-rock statesmen, joining them onstage at Dallas’ American Airlines Center to help cover Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World,” from 1989’s Freedom LP. (They took on the electric version, of course.) Brownstein also brought out her “good friend Annie” — better known as Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent — to split vocal duties with Eddie Vedder. Stereogum spotted some fan-shot footage of the seven-minute performance, which can be seen above. The cameraman had nosebleed seats, but thankfully, he made smart use of the “zoom in” feature.

St. Vincent, meanwhile, has also announced plans to hit a series of venues in Europe early next year. The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time honoree listed a handful of February tour dates on her website, which also contains a snippet of new music, presumably from St. Vincent’s next album, the follow-up to 2011’s Strange Mercy. Watch Clark sing “Rockin’ in the Free World” with Pearl Jam and Brownstein above, head over to St. Vincent’s website for tour dates and the all-too-brief teaser, and then check out Annie Clark’s silvery new hairdo on Facebook.
