MTV’s European Music Awards touched down in Amsterdam last night (November 10), and SPIN already broke down the event’s highs (Miley Cyrus smoking a joint onstage, Eminem not lip-syncing) and lows (uh, Miley Cyrus smoking a joint onstage). One notable moment though, happened before the official ceremony even got underway: Daft Punk appeared in a promotional video alongside Will Ferrell, who reprised his Anchorman role of Ron “I’m kind of a big deal” Burgundy. As with their cameo at the 2013 VMAs, the Random Access Memories robots didn’t say a word on camera.
Surprisingly, however, on this go-around the silent treatment didn’t feel like an overhyped letdown — instead, the sparkle-jacketed duo wore their straight-men roles well. Just sit back and relax, Daft Punk — schmooze with the local ladies, feast on cupcakes, and ride a tandem bicycle while Burgundy offers a tour of “Europe’s greatest city that isn’t London or Paris or Copen… Copenhage… Cagen Bacon?”
Watch the brief clip above, and scroll down to see a trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which hits theaters on December 20. The upcoming comedy stars Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, and Steve Carrell, and also reportedly features cameos by Kanye West and Drake.
