Blood Orange may be known for the company he keeps, but the Solange and Sky Ferreira collaborator stays solo in his new video for “Time Will Tell.” Directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz with choreography by Juri Onuki, the visual finds Blood Orange, a.k.a. Dev Hynes, dancing by his lonesome in a rehearsal space, dressed head-to-toe in white. Scoring the clip is the cloudy closing track from Hynes’ second album as Blood Orange, the upcoming (and star-studded) Cupid Deluxe. According to the 27-year-old talent, he recorded the song in a single, 15-minute take, ad-libbing the lyrics (via YouTube). Hit the play button above to watch the “Time Will Tell” video, which follows the previously shared shorts for “Chamakay” and “You’re Not Good Enough.”
Cupid Deluxe is available through iTunes right now, and will see wider release on November 18 via Domino. Before that, Hynes will deliver a guest lecture at New York University on November 13. As he puts it on Tumblr, the event will focus on “synesthesia and composition,” and will also feature a 30-minute piece of music assembled from bits of the soundtrack Hynes composed for Gia Coppola’s film Palo Alto, starring James Franco, Emma Roberts, and Val Kilmer.
