Volcano Choir Share Stunning Live Video, ‘Comrade Remix’ EP

Watch band's full September performance in Washington, D.C.

A few weeks back, SPIN spent 36 hours with Volcano Choir just before the Justin Vernon-led collective hit the road in support of their must-hear sophomore album, Repave. Now, NPR is offering fans a front-row seat to the Wisconsin crew’s live show, in the form of a 51-minute concert video that’s streaming above. Recorded on September 12 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., the extensive clip captures a sublime 10-song set that pulls heavily from Repave, with a single song lifted from Volcano Choir’s Unmap debut — “Island, IS” — and a pair of tracks not featured on either LP: “Valleyinaire” (previously caught on camera with a slightly different title of “Valleyonaire”) and “Blue Ni Ni (The Volcano Schores).” Press play above to catch the immaculately lit performance, and stay tuned through the end to hear an interview with the band conducted by NPR’s Bob Boilen.

And, as a bonus, NPR is offering the Comrade Remix EP, a free, four-track exclusive featuring remixes of Volcano Choir’s “Comrade” single, all done by musicians associated with the group, including All Tiny Creatures, Collections of Colonies of Bees, and guitarist Chris Roseanu. Stream the EP below, and scroll further to find the 9:30 Club show set list, followed by Volcano Choir’s upcoming tour dates.
