See Models Writhe to Panda Bear’s Solo Sounds in Fashion Preview Clip

Panda Bear Fashion Video Fernanda Pereira Noah Lennox

Animal Collective co-founder Noah “Panda Bear” Lennox scores a new video celebrating the spring/summer 2014 line of Portuguese designer Fernanda Pereira, who happens to be his wife. Seen above, the Joana Linda-directed clip (Marissa Nadler, Rose Blanket) is hardly your usual catwalk fare. Instead, the models therein sport far-out couture while executing odd choreography, chasing balloons, and testing out deranged smiles. The music is equally beautiful and experimental, opening with a hail of clattering percussion, drifting into airier territory, and eventually giving way to Kanye-like skronk. (Oh, and blood-curdling screams as the aforementioned balloons are popped.) It’s a wild collaboration and the first new Panda Bear solo sounds since 2011’s excellent Tomboy. Lennox also appeared on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories and, of course, Animal Collective’s Centipede Hz.
