A little bit of darkness swirls around MS MR — singer Lizzy Plapinger’s perpetually neon hair notwithstanding. The Brooklyn synth-pop duo released a Revelations-referencing debut album Secondhand Rapture with Columbia Records in May. We caught up with Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow before their set at the 2013 ACL Music Festival to talk about the dark ideas that inform their sound, including the real inspiration for their album’s stormy lead single “Hurricane,” which is far more literal than you might think.
