Mark Lanegan Career Retrospective Promises a Dozen Unheard Tracks

Mark Lanegan, 'Has God Seen My Shadow? An Anthology 1989-2011,' track list, Light in the Attic

Mark Lanegan has the type of itinerant career that cries out for a single, career-spanning anthology. He’s about to get one. The solo artist, former Screaming Trees frontman, and repeat collaborator with ex-Belle and Sebastian singer Isobel Campbell will see his assorted ventures compiled on Has God Seen My Shadow? An Anthology 1989-2011.

Due out January 14, 2014, on Light in the Attic (via Exclaim), the 32-song collection promises a dozen previously unreleased tracks. Guest performers featured on the album include PJ Harvey, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis. Lanegan co-produced the set, which will be available both as a double-CD including a 44-page lyric and photo booklet and as a triple-LP vinyl box set with a 20-page book.

Preorder the album, check out more details, and preview the tracks over at Light in the Attic’s website. Lanegan’s most recent album, Imitations, came out in September and consists entirely of covers, including a gravelly, piano-based take on the Twilight Singers’ “Deepest Shade.” More recently, Lanegan teamed with Warpaint and Martina Toley-Bird for a cover of the xx’s “Crystalised.”
