See French Montana Bring the Weeknd, Baby Tigers to ‘Gifted’ Video

The Weeknd in the video for "Gifted"

French Montana’s latest single “Gifted” may feature the Weeknd, but it’s really a Weeknd song with Montana grafted onto it — we don’t even hear the song’s star rap until 90 seconds in. Thus, it follows that the track’s video hews to Abel Tesfaye’s aesthetic, with the two singing from inside some makeshift warehouse cabaret that looks frankly unsafe for the various women who dance around the men. Also, the party looks boring except for the part where Frenchie cuddles with his two pet tiger cubs. Come to think of it, this would all be way better if it was The Puppy Bowl but with tiny jungle cats.

The video quickly follows the release of Miley Cyrus’ remix of French’s “Ain’t Worried About Nothin'” and his Migos feature “Roll On,” the latter of which is one of the best tracks he’s appeared on all year (and that includes his uneven debut LP Excuse My French). The Weeknd meanwhile shows up with Sia and Diplo on the song “Elastic Heart” off of the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire track list, which is a sentence that will look immediately dated once the calendar turns to 2014.
