The boys of Better Off handily give raw rebirth to the sounds of albums like Jimmy Eat World’s Bleed American, which captured the moment when emo merged with the mainstream. With a power-pop boost and a little slack cribbed from the alt-rock pantheon (see: Dinosaur Jr., et al.) the Nashville quartet create a noise that’s ultimately their own, as the song “A fool Walks Into a Bar and Cries Wolf” shows. That highlight from Better Off’s now-out debut album (I Think) I’m Leaving gets a fitting video treatment above via director Andy Reale. The clip features shots of the band playing inside of a small house while Luke Granered sings of missing out on what the world has to offer. Meanwhile, everyone outside is cliff-jumping with glee.
