The Killers Rep Hometown in M83 Team-Up ‘Shot at the Night’ Video

Killers, M83, "Shot at the Night," 'Direct Hits,' video

The Killers’ pairing with M83 has never made more sense. The latter’s Anthony Gonzalez produced “Shot at the Night,” a soaring synth-pop song from the Las Vegas band’s upcoming Direct Hits, which is due out on November 11. We’ve already noted “both acts’ proclivity towards ’80s bombast and neon-purple tones,” but where their mutually complementary tastes really come through is on the newly released video. Directed by Robert Schober, whose credits include Green Day’s winsome “Stray Heart,” and the Killers’ bad-Santa 2012 holiday clip, this one is a romance starring Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows, Australia’s Neighbours) and Max Minghella (The Social Network, The Internship). Of course, it’s set in Sin City. The ersatz grandeur of the skyline perfectly suits M83’s cinematic streak as well as the Killers’ earnestly charming sappiness. Safe bet: Watch the video above.
