There are few things that can be agreed on from Fenway Park to midtown Manhattan this time of year, but the enduring appeal of Superchunk must be one of them. Shortly after an organist played their I Hate Music heart-tugger “Me & You & Jackie Mittoo” at a Boston Red Sox home game, the indie-rock vets stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon amid a pair of New York City shows. Notably, although bassist Laura Ballance has been sitting out the tour due to a hearing problem, she joined the band for Fallon. On the air, the Merge Records bosses performed a rousing rendition of hard-charging Record Store Day single “Void,” and as an online exclusive they reached back to 1994’s Foolish for the impassioned “Driveway to Driveway.”
