Passion Pit Rebound From Gear-Destroying Storm With Joyous ‘Live on Letterman’ Set

passion pit, live on letterman

This past weekend, a massive storm hit Chicago and destroyed most of Passion Pit’s equipment. “Our gear was completely annihilated by the weather,” the band wrote on its website, adding that 70 mph winds allowed rain to ruin about three-fourths of the electroni-pop unit’s gear. The group, which had been headlining the North Coast Music Festival, ended up having to play a handful of DJ sets over the last few days. Luckily, though, Michael Angelakos and co. assembled a proper set-up for their “Live on Letterman” performance last night (September 4).

The arenaconquering act played a 12-song set, drawing heavily from last year’s Gossamer album (“I’ll Be Alright,” “Take a Walk,”“Constant Conversations,” “Carried Away,” and “Cry Like a Ghost,” among others) and pilfering a few tunes from 2009’s Manners LP. Watch the whole broadcast above, find the full set list below (via Consequence of Sound), and head over to the official Late Show With David Letterman website to see Passion Pit perform “Constant Conversations” on the talk show proper (skip ahead to the 39:30 mark).
