Nine Inch Nails’ Touring Lineup Brings R&B Pedigree With D’Angelo, Stones Alums

Nine Inch Nails tour touring lineup R&B singers

Following a summer of incredible festival gigs and one intimate L.A. show for the release of Hesitation Marks, Nine Inch Nails are about to embark on their headlining arena trek, and they’re bringing some added firepower with them.

SPIN cover star Trent Reznor tweeted out the lineup for the Tension 2013 tour, revealing that NIN will be backed by vocalists Sharlotte Gibson, who sang backup on American Idol, and veteran session singer Lisa Fischer, who has toured with the Rolling Stones for more than 15 years. Perhaps most exciting is the addition of world-renowned bassist Pino Palladino, who played on Hesitation Marks and has performed with a vast array of artists over his 30-plus-year career, including D’Angelo’s Voodoo album and tour and several post-John-Entwistle incarnations of the Who. The lineup is rounded out by Alessandro Cortini, Joshua Eustis, Robin Finck, and Ilan Rubin.

Juding by a brief rehearsal clip of “All Time Low” that Reznor uploaded, the group’s new lineup has a much funkier edge than any previous NIN incarnation.

The Tension 2013 tour kicks off Saturday, September 28 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and runs through November 25. Reznor promised “surprises” in the already massive and complex stage production. Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Gary Numan, and Autolux will open, and full tour dates are below.
