Miley Cyrus Really Loves Weed, Molly, Michael Jackson … and the Pixies

If Miley Cyrus is trying to troll the music universe, she’s doing a brilliant job. We recently learned, among many other things, that the chart-conquering singer said Kanye West gave her amazing compliments. Now Rolling Stone has shared more quotes from the VMA twerker, and there’s something to rile up just about everybody.

Cyrus’ comments range from Trayvon Martin to Toddlers & Tiaras, but the watercooler moment here is her preference in drugs. “I think weed is the best drug on earth,” she said. “One time I smoked a joint with peyote in it, and I saw a wolf howling at the moon. Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too. Those are happy drugs — social drugs. They make you want to be with friends. You’re out in the open. You’re not in a bathroom. I really don’t like coke. It’s so gross and so dark. It’s like what are you, from the ’90s? Ew.” So is she still sticking to that salvia story?

Then, somewhere in all this, of course, there’s music. Of upcoming album Bangerz, Cyrus said: “There are albums that people still are listening to, like Michael Jackson’s Bad, because it’s so fucking dope. I want people to listen to my album like that.” She added: “Like, I have one Pixies record that is a time for me — from the time I was 16 until I was 18, the Pixies is all I listened to. And I’m going to be that artist to so many people, so I want to make sure my record is the best it can be.” If her new album lives up to the King of Pop and the template-setters of alternative rock, we’ll be pretty excited, but that’s some big talk.

Cyrus also discussed her “Wrecking Ball” video, which she said is “the opposite of the VMAs.” She compared it to “the most modern version” of Sinead O’Connor’s landmark “Nothing Compares 2 U” video. “I think it will be one of those iconic videos too,” she said. “I think it’s something that people are not gonna forget. Hopefully an artist 30 years from now will be like ‘Yo you remember that Miley Cyrus video? We gotta do something like that.'”

Another inspiration: Dolly Parton. “She’s not just a blonde with big titties — she is a genius under there,” Cyrus told RS. “She literally came from nothing, and now you go anywhere in the world, and they know Dolly Parton. It’s like, don’t let people’s judgment define who you are. Don’t read the comments and get nervous. Know who you are.” It’s easy to mock, but those are actually some wise words.

Sadly, it’s too soon just yet to know how Cyrus feels about the Kanye West-Jimmy Kimmel feud, but there’s still time.
