The Knife Pucker Up With Planningtorock to Rework ‘Full of Fire’

planningtorock, the knife, full of fire

The Knife have once again teamed with Janine Rostron, a.k.a. Planningtorock, tapping the DFA associate to reinterpret their Shaking the Habitual single “Full of Fire.” Planningtorock’s redux, titled “Let’s Talk About Gender Baby, Let’s Talk About You and Me,” clocks in at about three-and-a-half minutes — roughly a third of the original’s 10-minute running time — and sets a single line on loop.

“Going through the tracks I pulled the awesome lyric ‘Let’s talk about gender, baby / Let’s talk about you and me’ out from ‘Full of Fire’ and was completely moved by its groovy directness,” Planningtorock says in a statement, adding that she “started recording this super fun bass line and totally went for a funky celebration feel.”

The techno-art track comes paired with a colorful video directed by Planningtorock. As seen above, the clip merges screensaver-y visuals with puckered-up mouths that lip-synch the Salt-n-Pepa reference on repeat. Watch it now, and keep an eye out for the song’s official release, set for October 15 courtesy of Rabid/Brille/Mute. “Let’s Talk About Gender Baby, Let’s Talk About You and Me” will be backed by DJ Hannah Holland’s remix of the Knife’s “Raging Lung.” Scroll down for the cover art.
